General sharing: Was there anything from the message this weekend that you found yourself thinking about again afterward? Is there something from the message that you wish you could have shared with yourself 5-10 years ago? What do you think your reaction would have been? Is that message still something you need to hear today?
Application [we all have blood on our hands]: Were you able to identify with Lady Macbeth or Albert Speer in how they had a guilty conscience that couldn’t find rest? What brings about conviction in our hearts? What helps us know right from wrong? (Read Romans 2:12-16 for the answer). In his sermon Wes quoted Isaiah 53:6 and made it clear that we all have blood on our hands, we all have sinned before God. Do you think people in our culture today feel a sense of their own sin?
Application [We are eternally cleansed from our sin]: Read Hebrews 9:11-14. Why do you think it is hard for us to believe that Christ really is able to cleanse us from our sins? Is it healthy for us to feel guilty when we sin? Is it healthy for us to remain in that feeling of guilt? If it is healthy at first to have this feeling of guilt over sin we commit, what is the appropriate response after? Read 1 John 1:5-10. How does this process help remove that sense of guilt?
