Moving forward in faith: Hebrews 10:35-11:3
Take about 30 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.
General Sharing: We are getting towards the end of the No Going Back sermon series. Has there been a particular take away from one of the sermons that you find yourself repeatedly reflecting on? Has there been anything from the series that you have used to encourage a friend? Is there anything you have found difficulty in and wrestled with?
Application [Faith is confidence in what God has said, so we need to know what he has said and hasn’t said]. Wes played a video clip of the miracle on 34th street where the mother said, “faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.” Have you ever held that view of faith before or find yourself sometimes falling back on that view? What have been the implications to your relationship with God and your confidence in Him when you have this definition of faith? Have you noticed any correlation between when you were studying God’s word and your confidence in Him?
Application [People who are confident in God do crazy things for God]. Wes referenced Francis Chan’s video of an Olympian clinging to a balance beam instead of doing acrobatic moves because they desired safety. In what ways do we cling to safety when we lack confidence in God? How does this affect the way we evangelize to others? What evidence for God’s promises do you reflect on to find confidence in him? (creation, nation of Israel, evidence of Christ, etc.)
