• The first commandment addresses no other gods before me which is the object of worship. The second commandment addresses the mode of worship which is a carved image or likeness of anything that is in heaven above.  Why is there the distinction between the two and why is that important to understand the difference?
• Worshipping anything, person or object other than the Lord is an abomination to God’s glory. Why does He protect His glory so fiercely? 
• God’s demand for worship and exclusive devotion is not only for His benefit; it’s for ours too. How does honoring the second commandment benefit us as believers?
• Isn’t jealousy a sin? How can one reconcile God’s jealousy in this text?
• Breaking the second commandment can be quite obvious but it can also be quite subtle with devastating consequences. Name some of the ways the second commandment is broken much more subtlety? 
• Read John 14:15-21. How does this text relate to Exodus 20:4-6? 
• How do the Ten Commandments point to Jesus and His finished work on the Cross?
