October 1-6, 2018 || The Restlessness of Rebellion || Dr. Wes Feltner || Hebrews 4
Take about 25 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.
- General sharing: Was there anything from the Sermon this weekend that really identified with something you went through this last week? Share a high point and a low point from your week with the group.
- Application: Rebellion and unbelief lead to restlessness. Wes pointed out that it’s common for a Christian who has experienced rest in salvation to slip back into restlessness through doubt during difficulty. Is there a common pattern of instances where you most easily fall back into restlessness? What are some of the doubts (moments of unbelief) you have in those moments that are leading to that restlessness? Is there a specific bible verse you find a truth to combat those situations? Does anyone in the group have any ideas?
- Application: You know you are at rest when you stop hiding from God. What does it mean to be spiritually naked? The illustration used in the sermon was Aslan (lion) climbing onto Eustace (dragon) back and tearing away layers of his skin. It was a very painful process. What makes getting spiritually naked so painful and why do we need God’s help to do so? What about being spiritually naked before God brings us rest? (Because at that moment we see Christ identify us, the naked us, as His own and cloth us (identify us) by his love).
