October 7-13, 2018 || Salvation Belongs to the Lord || Tony Manning || Jonah 1:17-3:10
Take about 25 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.
- General sharing: Did anyone this past week get a chance to share the gospel? Would you say the concept of actively sharing the gospel is a part of the culture among your close friend group? What are some ways you can incorporate it more into that culture?
- Application: Salvation belongs to the Lord: Has there been a time in your life where God clearly showed you that “Salvation belongs to the Lord? (meaning: he alone can save and has in His goodness chosen to save). During this time who did you share this with and what was their response? Knowing now what you learned then, how would you handle a similar circumstance if it was to happen today? Is there anything you would do differently or anything you would make sure to do the same?
- Application: Called to sow seeds freely. In this last week’s message, Tony brought attention to the parable of the seeds and how as Christians the emphasis is no longer on what kind of soil that we are sowing on, but the fact that we are sowing. How does that resonate with you? What are the types of excuses you find yourself using to justify avoiding sowing? What steps could you take to make you more proactive in this? Is there any related scripture that could guide us in this process?
