Take about 25 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.
- General sharing: Was there anything that really convicted you in Wes’s sermon this weekend? Anything that you found yourself thinking deeper about afterward?
- Application: losing focus leads to subtle compromise. When you lose focus what are the good things you subtly turn to as idols? Is Screwtape’s (C.S Lewis) strategy of focusing your attention on a substitute of Christ (good things) working in your life right now?
- Application: lose focus=stop listening=become calloused. Wes stated, “When your ears stop listening eventually your heart becomes hardened.” In what ways do you find it easiest to stop listening? Is there anything in your life that normally precedes the times when you stop listening? What truths of the gospel do you stop listening to? As a result, how has your heart become hardened?
