Simple obedience to God produces a ripple-effect of blessings. I have experienced this firsthand through my 17-year sponsorship with Compassion International. Nearly two decades ago my husband and I were inspired to sponsor 2 children—taking responsibility for them financially (monthly support), emotionally (letter writing), and spiritually (prayer and gospel sharing). It began as a response to God’s call of caring for the poor of this world, but I can tell you that our entire family has been eternally blessed and our hearts forever changed by the gift of sponsorship.
Compassion International is a renowned, non-profit sponsorship organization with a mission for Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Unlike similar organizations that meet the physical and emotional needs, Compassion is unique that the gospel is interwoven into all aspects of the program. Compassion Centers are set up all throughout the world and allow kids the opportunity to receive education, medical attention, meals, clothing, AND spiritual nourishment. The children are brought up learning about the LORD and reading His word!

Seventeen years ago we sponsored a little girl from Haiti and a little boy from El Salvador. Through years of praying for the children, we formed lasting relationships: sharing prayer-requests, sending pictures of important life moments, encouraging one another with the Gospel, and keeping up on the country’s economic and political environment in order to better pray for our “Compassion kids.” I’ve watched how my two daughters were inspired to write letters to their “siblings” and would pray for them each and every day. Instilling a missions-focus mind at a young age is important for children and families, to be able to look outside of our culture, our American lives, and catch a glimpse of the reality of the outside world. Now, our two initial sponsor children have graduated from the program and have continued to keep in touch with us through Facebook. What a privilege is it to see them walking with the Lord! The power of prayer and gospel exposure has transformed the lives of our sponsor children and it is amazing to see how God is working in them and through them to bring glory to His name!
I have been inspired by Compassion International sponsorship and I know you will be too! When you give even a little of your time, money, and heart—the Lord will bless everyone involved. You have the opportunity to give one of God’s precious children the gift of hope and the joy of knowing the Lord. What a blessing it is to know you have helped make that happen!
Sponsoring a child grows your “family” here on earth, but even greater it builds the foundation and the development to grow our “heavenly family,” one that will last forever.
