At Berean we take the discipleship of the younger generation very seriously. We have gathered as well as created many resources to help parents take the lead in this process. We are also working hard as a church to be intentional, effective, and diligent in the role that we play in the partnership between the church and the home. How we disciple our kids matters! We need to help prepare them for how to both think and live in this world. We want to be strategic and intentional in leading them toward a firmly-rooted authentic faith. Kevin Orris provides some great insights on this subject. As both parents and church members, this is a must read!
Orris writes:
"Kinnaman and Matlock made this conclusion in Faith for Exiles and we completely agree. 'The data indicates that an hour (or less) a week (in church)—or more likely, an hour or so every few weeks, when a young Christian shows up for church—is simply not a sufficient amount of “weight” to tone a heart bloated with hundreds of hours of content from digital Babylon.'"
