How to Implement a Simple Approach to Family Devotions

At Berean, we encourage parents to develop the practice and rhythm of regular family devotions. If you don't know how to start, think about your family meals. You need people, a regular schedule, and a variety that satisfies everyone.

At Berean, we encourage parents to develop the practice and rhythm of regular family devotions. There are many benefits of sitting down with your kids to teach God's truth and help them develop their faith. We also understand that if you haven't ever had family devotions, you may have a lot of questions, and the practice may seem daunting.

Jared Kennedy compares family devotions to family meals. He describes what family devotions can look like and the benefits of doing them, giving practical advice and great encouragement. Kennedy writes:

"The best meals involve grace and laughter around the table. So it is with family devotionals. They’re an opportunity to model a life that craves the pure spiritual milk of the Word (1 Peter 2:2), one that helps your kids to taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)."
