Intergenerational Worship: The Importance of Including Our Kids in Church

I love Kids' Ministry! We have an incredible team of both staff and volunteers at Berean who invest a lot of time into building relationships with the younger generation and pointing them to Jesus. One of the big ways that we do this is with our Kids' Ministry Programming on Sundays.

Because this programming is available during the corporate worship services, because it is made specifically for kids, and because it is so well done, it is often mistaken as being church for kids (Kids' Church). That isn't how we view it though! We don't see this as a replacement for the corporate worship service for kids because we don't want them to be absent from and miss out on the worship service.

Why is that? Scott Reyner, the Pastor of Kids' Discipleship at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina (the church I grew up in!), offers some great points about the importance of having kids be a part of the worship service and some tips on how to make it a success for your family. I couldn't agree more with what he has to say.

Reyner writes:
If you don’t teach, model, and display for them a love for corporate worship while they’re still young, then there’s a greater likelihood that they will not discover and commit to it on their own later in life.
