Moving Faith From Head to Heart

One of the most alarming things we are seeing with the younger generation is their exodus from a life of faith in Jesus and leaving the church when they start their lives as autonomous adults. At Berean we are taking this seriously. We want to make sure that as a church we aren't just doing 'good' things or offering kids 'a little bit of Jesus.'

Lucy Greenberg, in her Relevant Magazine article talks about the importance of faith moving from the head to the heart. Memorization or "knowing Jesus as an answer" instead of a person is not what leads to a heart that has been captivated by the gospel. As parents, we can't make the journey from head to heart happen, but Greenberg gives us some things we can do that help.

This article isn't written specifically to parents, but provides great insights that are useful for parents as they spiritually lead and disciple their children.

Greenberg writes:

"...Jesus has to move from being an answer in our heads to a truth in our hearts. Head knowledge is easily replaceable. But truth that has made it into someone’s heart is rarely moveable."
