To Be Known

by Tanner Pinkerman on February 10, 2020

Recently some of the Berean Kids staff read a great blog that we shared with our volunteers. The writer magnified the value of connecting with kids sincerely and intentionally.

We encouraged our volunteers to greet each child by name, to bend or kneel down and look them in the eye, and to joyfully assure them that they are seen and known. The simple act of making eye contact and learning names can make a world of difference to children and their families.

Connect Sincerely with Your Own Children

This notion of making eye contact really hit home for me as a mom. I had to ask myself, “How often do I intentionally look my children in the eye and really focus on them?” How often do I smile at them?

Our world of screens, phones, and bright lights can lure our attention away from those closest to us while they’re right next to us. It’s like the image of the two fishermen on the dock, looking out over the water and talking to each other but never looking at each other.

Let’s connect! Let’s see, hear and smile at our children. Know, love, engage and develop for the gospel!
