Vitaly was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1989 at the age of twelve. He was blessed to be raised in a Christian home.

Upon coming to the U.S., the Salo family joined First Ukrainian Baptist Church, located in Minneapolis at the time. Vitaly became a born-again Christian as a teenager at a camp. He served in various roles at the Ukrainian church, including the youth ministry and later as a deacon.

Vitaly, his wife, and their two adult children have attended Berean since 2018. Vitaly currently serves on the Parking Team and in the Berean Café.
