    April 28 - May 4, 2019 || Extravagantly Generous || Dr. Wes Feltner

    Take about 45 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.

    Connecting:

    1. Did anyone find themselves relating to the email that Wes read at the beginning of the sermon, how so? (email: college student)
    2. Is there a side of the savior you have connected with during this sermon series?
    3. Have you shared this with anyone outside of Berean and how did they react?

    Application: Maturity is not reaching independence, its reaching dependence.

    Read Mark 6:30-44

    1. Have you ever been put in a ministry situation like the disciples where you were already feeling exhausted and then you felt like God was asking you to do even more by ministering to those around you?
    2. What do you think makes ministry seem so exhausting? What do you feel are some of the mental hurdles we must get over in the process of saying yes to ministry?
    3. Has there ever been a time when you felt led to share the gospel or serve in some ministry and then said no? Why did you say no?
    4. Wes talked about preparing tireless for a sermon and still feeling like he had gotten nowhere. Why might God let this happened to us when we are trying to be faithful and say yes to serving? Have you ever been in this situation and what did you learn?
    5. What could be some of the benefits of us recognizing our dependency on Christ when we try to evangelize or serve within the church? What are some of the attitudes this produces? How are these signs of maturity?

    Application: Jesus’ heart is one of compassion and generosity. He wants to feed.

    1. What would your attitude have been towards having to deal with an angry crowd and disciples who were unwilling to help? What actions would you have taken?
    2. What attitudes does Jesus display in his reaction to the situation? Recognizing that we are often just like the crowd and the disciples, how is Jesus’ response encouraging in regards to our prayer life?
    3. How can you display the compassion and generosity of Jesus to co-workers, neighbors, and friends in a way that would lead them to Christ?
    4. If you have done this in the past, what were some of the emotions you personally experienced? How would you say you experienced Christ through living generously and compassionately?
    5. How is experiencing Christ-like this satisfying and how is it different from being satisfied in anything else?
