The premier Berean Kids event this summer is drawing near, and we are ready! We are thrilled to offer Summer Blast (formerly VBS) for kids ages 4 to completed grade 5.
The last two summers were different in that we offered a Family VBS where families stayed together for the week. Amidst our alternate plans, we really had a lot of fun.
Despite the crazy times, the last two years were phenomenal.
In 2020, we were not even sure we could have an event at all, but in the end, we punted big time. We had a tailgate-style week in the parking lot where families stayed by their cars, and we presented everything via a stage with audio piped through a radio station. On two of the nights, we also did a virtual at-home night. It truly was a beautiful thing. Our families had not been together in any way since March so that time together in July was a welcome reunion. The weather was perfect, the connection we had outside was heartwarming, and the smiles on the kids’ faces said it all. We were so thankful!
In 2021, we again offered a Family VBS, but this time we were able to be inside the Worship Center, offering us the ability to greater enhance the worship and teaching time. We had a great time in the parking lot as well through games and gathering as a community. Families enjoyed worshipping together, making a meaningful take-home craft, and learning more about the love of Jesus.
This year, we are making waves for Jesus at Summer Blast.
Now in 2022, we have renamed the event Summer Blast and we are so happy that from July 25 to 28 we will offer a three-night drop-off event, followed by a family service and party in the parking lot on the fourth day.
Our theme is Make Waves. So, what does that mean? The definition is this: 'What Jesus has done for us can change my life and change our world!' We want to use this theme to focus on the saving gospel of Jesus and help it ring true to kids at their level.
Jesus made waves when he came to this earth and lived as a man among the people, loving the unlovely and saving the unkempt. He made the ultimate splash when he died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins. Because of what Jesus has done, our lives can be changed forever! And we can show God’s love to all those around us and make waves for Jesus in our community and our world.
What will your kids learn at Summer Blast?
Our three drop-off nights will focus on:
- Jesus walking on water and inviting us to follow him,
- Jesus rising from the dead to give us saving life everlasting, and
- Jesus calling us to have the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives to impact others.
Kids will learn that Jesus is real, he is alive, and he can live in their hearts and give them connection, even a relationship, with God.
Our fourth night will include a family service where parents, family members, and friends can hear what the kids learned at Summer Blast and have the opportunity to hear the gospel message of Jesus. We are praying that both kids and their families will hear of the saving grace of Jesus in a very powerful way.
Why does Summer Blast matter for you and your kids?
Summer Blast is a unique event in that it utilizes a series of evening events to build relationships with kids and reveal biblical truths through high-energy worship, teaching, and activities. Each night builds upon the previous, and the family fun night to cap it off will provide lasting memories for all. Summer Blast is a kind of “in-town camp” feel where kids of many ages can gather with their peer groups, and then with their families, to experience God’s love, truth, and community.
