Seeds of Hope: The Gospel of John

  1. Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus in the cover of night (John 3:1-21). Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16 ESV).
  2. Officers who failed to arrest Jesus proclaimed, "No one ever spoke like this man!" (John 7:46 ESV). Nicodemus challenges his religious/cultural authorities (John 7:40-52 ESV). "Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?" (John 7:51 ESV).
  3. Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea take Jesus' body from the cross, bound it with spices, and placed it in a new tomb (John 19:338-42 ESV). Nicodemus publicly aligned himself with Jesus.

The Apostle John gives us glimpses of transformation in the life of Nicodemus as he grows in his faith in Jesus as the Christ.

Who is one person you want to share the good news of Jesus with? Will you plant the seed of hope and trust God for life transformation?
