When you think of youth ministry, what comes to mind? Loud music? Dodgeball? Camp trips? Gross games that involve cream pies to the face?
While having fun is definitely an avenue to get student's attention and attract them to a message, it's important for us to not see that as the message.
Everything we do in Berean Youth has a purpose. We point students to the gospel of Jesus. By making our ministry culturally relevant, we are able to give the timeless truth of God’s Word.
It reminds me of how Jesus set the example of going to people’s houses that were known as sinners among the community. Right there in their culture, he did two main things: Jesus loved them for who they were and pointed them to the truth.
When we have students at Berean, we also want them to know that we love them as they are, but we also want them to experience the life-changing power of God.
That’s why we have three main programs that reach students where they are in their faith journey.
BY Unite
BY Unite is our Wednesday night program that focuses on relationships. Students experience worship, a gospel message, and small group time. (There might be a crazy game thrown in there as well.)
BY Essentials
BY Essentials on Sunday mornings has an educational focus. This is for the student that is ready to grow in their faith by learning the essentials of the faith.
BY Lead
BY Lead is our leadership program for high school students so they can put their faith in action and live out the essentials they have been learning.
So, while we do have a lot of fun and can get pretty crazy, God is right in the middle of all of it. If you ever have any questions about Berean Youth, feel free to contact me!
