Link: 7 Lies We Tell Our Children

by Ben Holden on April 27, 2020

We say thousands of words every day. These words teach, admonish, tear down, encourage, and speak important messages. What we say to our children matters.

Barnabas Piper talks about seven phrases that we probably recognize because at some point they have come out of our own mouths. At first glance, they might seem right or harmless, but the messages they are teaching or the actions they are encouraging, once we really look at and listen to them, aren't healthy. In fact, they are lies.

"We all lie to our kids. Sometimes it’s on purpose and for what we deem a good purpose. Sometimes it’s because we so want them to believe something, to feel better, to overcome a challenge, or to work through pain that we will say anything to try to help. Sometimes it’s because we’re idiots and just don’t realize what we’re doing." - Barnabas Piper
