It seems to me that the light at the end of the tunnel keeps moving farther and farther away.
At first, the Stay Home order was four weeks, then six, then ten, and so on. Because of that, it seems like the only news we have is bad news:
- More people are getting COVID-19.
- The Stay Safe order still means staying at home.
- There's more time spent apart from friends and family.
- We have to wear uncomfortable face masks.
- Graduation ceremonies are being canceled.
If you are anything like me, you are getting antsy and impatient, feeling like you can't do anything. And some of you have to educate and entertain a family day after day. I can't even imagine what that's like.
Are you wondering when and where the good news will show up? How do we help our kids see the good and look forward to the next day? There are a lot of different people suggesting a lot of different ideas to help people thrive. Maybe you found something that is helping you and your family.
Jesus Is Good News
In all this, I want to remind us of the good news that is always good, no matter what. Hopefully, this isn’t a surprise, but Jesus is the good news we need most, even when everything else seems bad.
- When it seems the world has come to an apparent standstill, Jesus hasn’t.
- We feel "stuck" at home, yet Jesus is omnipresent.
- So much is out of our control, but God is always in control.
- When its hard to find hope, we still have hope in the future Jesus promises.
- Even though life is different, our identity and purpose in Jesus are not.
So whatever you are going through each day, remind yourself and your family of the good news of Jesus. Because even when good news is hard to find, Jesus is still good.
