Take about 45 minutes during your missional community gathering to discuss what God is teaching you and how he is leading you in light of the weekend sermon.
General Sharing: Was there anything from your last week that you were able to see God in? What do you feel like is the hardest thing God is asking you to do right now? Was there anything from the sermon this last week that helped you with this?
Application [Things not sinful can become sinful when they interfere with your ability to run the race God has for you]: Wes mentioned that the ‘sin which clings so closely’ found in Hebrews 12:1 is likely to be a reference to worldly comforts do to the context of the Hebrews wanting to go back to Judaism for comfort. What are some comforts you find hindering your ability to run the race of faith? Is there a context in which these things would not be sinful for someone? How do they get to the point of becoming sinful? What are some practical things we can do to prevent them from becoming so?
Application [Enduring to the end requires you to look to Christ]: What are some of the benefits of meeting as a missional community? How has your group been able to help you refocus your gaze on Christ? Read Hebrews 10:23-25. Hopefully, the author of Hebrews' intent throughout the book is starting to become clear when it comes to our need for the support of other Christians while we run the race of faith! What does verse 23 mean when it says, “For he who promised is faithful.”(see Phil 1:6). How does looking to Christs’ faithfulness on the cross and in his preserving the saints encourage you?
