A Way to Remember the One Who Helps

by Ben Holden on April 20, 2021

We hear the term "Ebenezer" at church (usually in song), but I would imagine that most people don't know what it means or where it comes from. We know the name, but we don't know the biblical meaning. Sundee McDonald does a great job of showing and explaining the Ebenezer stone that Samuel established in the Old Testament. It was a tool that was used to help provide a reminder of the one who helps. McDonald provides ways to incorporate this same concept in the discipleship process within our homes.

McDonald writes:

"During seasons of celebration like Christmas, it is easier to remember God’s faithfulness and blessings. But to keep our trust in Him through the daily busy and mundane, that is hard. We tend to rely on ourselves, and our DOing can blind us from SEEing both His people and His good works."
